Doug grew up in the small towns of Arkansas City, Kansas and Newkirk, Oklahoma right in the heart of the wide open plains of farm and ranch country. Upon graduating college with his technical degree, he spent the early days of his professional career working in petroleum and chemical engineering research – first for Koch Industries, then later for a research group located at Oklahoma State University. During that time, he worked on his own projects including filing for being awarded a utility patent for an automotive anti-theft device.

After twelve years and multiple roles in that industry, he and his brother began their own manufacturing services company to develop and produce that anti-theft device. Even though sales never took off like they hoped, the business found success producing high quality parts and services for companies and individuals. Doug left that business and the area in 2008 to pursue his dream of not being cold in the winter – opting for the sunny Sonoran desert climate of Tucson, Arizona. Once in Tucson, he worked to get established in a new environment during a difficult time economically spending time working for an aerospace engineering company, a national manufacturing and service company, and, for four years, using his technical writing skills and engineering background to draft patent applications for a local law firm.

Doug has always had a strong interest in real estate purchasing his first single family home in 1995. Since that first two-bedroom, one bath home in Oklahoma, he has bought, renovated, rented, and sold various properties along with his wife, Lisa.  Earning his real estate license in 2014, Doug began with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and has been actively engaged full-time ever since, winning awards along the way. In 2019, Doug found a new brokerage that aligned with his values at Realty Executives Arizona Territory where he remains.

Doug utilizes his natural listening and teaching skills to guide clients through every facet of the process including evaluating, buying, renovating, renting and selling. He believes in empowering and educating his clients to make the best possible real estate decisions for each of them in their unique situations. His focus is residential property from a first-time homebuyer, to a move-up home buyer, to a downsizer. Of course he has assisted with luxury and historic homes, parcels, lots, and investment properties, but his heart is in helping people buy and sell their homes.

In 2022, Doug founded the Professional Team with a mission: He wanted to expand business in a manner that ensured every agent associated with the team possessed the character, professionalism and knowledge to provide industry leading quality of service that reflected who we are as people – people of faith and family.

Outside of work, Doug and his wife, Lisa, are active members of The Bridge Christian Church East contributing in various roles. They have two grown children and a rescue dog, Lucy. Doug’s hobbies include classic car restoration, home renovation, and keeping physically active as he is a StrongFirst® Level 1 certified Kettlebell Instructor and enjoys honing those skills in his workout regimen.
