3 Schooling Options in Tucson

Tucson has many public school districts – ranging from the largest city wide district of TUSD to many smaller school districts that have only one high school like Catalina Foothills or Tanque Verde Districts – and even a few smaller districts that only have primary schools with no high school!  Tucson public schools have unrestricted open enrollment – meaning you can attend a school if you don’t live in the district boundaries if there is space.  Tucson School District Map

Arizona has had school choice since the 1990s and has dozens of charter schools – many of them that are quite large and have lots of academic and extracurricular opportunities.  What’s a charter school?  It is a school that does not charge tuition and the school receives funding from the government per student.

Some charter schools have an online or hybrid online/in-person options for kids who need a flexible schedule.

Homeschooling has become more popular the past few years – there are many homeschooling support groups, some based in churches and some in neighborhoods.
