I live and work in Tucson. While on average, 10 degrees cooler than big brother Phoenix, Tucson is still in the (Sonoran) desert southwest – and believe me, it matters which way a home faces in Tucson. With that in mind, here are 3 thoughts that make sense when home shopping in Tucson:

- Two directions provide more heat than the other two directions.
Any guesses which two? West and South provide more (and more harsh) sunlight than East and North. Pay attention to which sides of the house face these directions. Windows and doors facing West and South allow more sunlight and heat into the home. - What type of sunlight do you want on your back yard?
Along with the beautiful sunset views, comes the brutal heat of the long summer. On the other hand, the morning sun from the East and North is great for the garden, but yields to the shadows after midday. Choose purposefully. - The pool – heat and sunlight on the pool provide warmer water sooner with swim dates that are earlier in the spring and later in the fall. Along with this perk comes more algae that has to be kept at bay with chemicals.
In conclusion, there are no right or wrong answers, just make sure these issues are considered and if you have any questions on the topic,
Just Ask!
